“We are committed to partnering with families who have lost a child to bring healing and hope.”

OUR STORY:

We are Tommy and Leah Luong.

We are originally from Grand Rapids, MI and have been married going on four years. In January of 2017 we decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue what was in our heart. In December of 2018 we were elated with the news of expecting our first child who would be joining us August 2019! Having a family is something we had been praying for and were so excited to find out we were going to start the journey of parenthood.

That Christmas was so special being able to tell our families of the new joy on the way! It was our best Christmas yet! Month to month we planned with anticipation,  joy,  excitement for our baby’s arrival. In may 2019 we found out we were having a girl. All of Leah’s “mommy and daughter” dreams were about to come true and Tommy was so excited to have “daddy’s little girl” wrapped around his finger. Every appointment was confirmation of what a healthy and spunky girl we had coming our way.

On Wednesday August 14, 2019 at 39 weeks and 5 days pregnant we went to our last prenatal appointment to find out there was no longer a heartbeat.

They began induction hours later and August 15, 2019 our sweet daughter Zara Eleanor Luong was born sleeping. Through grief and trauma we have learned how precious life truly is. Our daughter has and continues to teach us more about life and love and the goodness of God than we would’ve ever learned in this lifetime on our own. As we near the one year anniversary and first birthday of our daughter we decided to start the Zara Eleanor Foundation in honor of her.

We want to share our story.

In hopes that we can help others who face the loss of their child. So that we can be an advocate in the process of changing this narrative and to help create new policies and procedures in the prenatal process of pregnancies for other women and families.

We are now on the journey of healing and keeping hope in our forefront and at the same time navigating how to be parents to our angel baby.

“We are all on the journey of healing.”
